I’m proud to be a part of a company that takes their 20th anniversary as an opportunity to support a variety of nonprofits that have meaning to us. Step by Step is one such organization we have chosen to be a part of our “Year of Gratitude.” Step by Step, located in Puyallup, WA., provides resources and support to vulnerable women from pregnancy through infancy. The organization was founded by Krista Linden, who has grown the nonprofit from serving less than 100 families in its first year, to more than 1,000 today. Linden has seven daughters of her own and believes that there’s nothing more important than children. She created Step by Step to help moms provide a better future for themselves and their children.
Step by Step’s mission: We are making a lasting difference in our community and in our future, and it begins with one mom, one baby, and one healthy step at a time.”
The organization not only supports women with life skills classes, community connections, vital needs such as diapers and formula, home visits, childcare, transportation, financial assistance, and a housing program to prevent homelessness, but also empowers them to see their pregnancy as an opportunity to make positive changes and raise their children in a safe and healthy home.
I am most inspired by the confidence and self-esteem that Step by Step imparts on these women who come from a variety of difficult backgrounds ranging from domestic abuse to drug abuse and addiction. The team at Step by Step acts as a friend, counselor, and confidant to these women who may be lacking stability and support in their own lives. It is an organization all about women helping women and empowering them to strengthen families and communities.
We invite you to learn more about Step by Step from their website, and if you feel as inspired as I am, take the next step and volunteer with the organization or donate below!
