Sometimes a commercial just rolls right.
A recent example of a great commercial that takes a simple idea and turns into something very clever and engaging comes to us courtesy of Woodstock Bourbon.
Their advertising people took a simple observation: “We found that the more we turn our American oak barrels, the better the bourbon tastes,” and rolled with it, using it as the tagline in a commercial that where visuals and music establish a version of reality where the people in Woodstock, Kentucky exercise this task with fervor. Here’s the ad:
How many alcoholic beverage ads have you seen featuring a policeman pulling someone over? At least he wasn’t giving him the field sobriety test, right?! But maybe we should applaud the break with convention–it’s a funny scene.
