Twenty-nine year old, Pete Frates, has lived with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease, since 2012. Through fighting this disease he has dedicated his life to spreading awareness…and we are guessing by now you have heard of the #IceBucketChallenge.
This viral sensation, using hash tag #IceBucketChallenge, has attracted thousands of followers, from kids to celebrities, who either contribute $100 to ALS or drop frozen ice on themselves and issue the challenge to others. Thankfully, most people are doing both, resulting in an amazing $15.6 million raised since the challenge began – 50x more than normal.
One of the best parts of this awareness campaign via social media? The creative videos being made by normal folks and celebrities. Even Mr. Gates.
