Santa actually has nothing to do with this post, but how could I resist?
The Denver Business Journal reports that the Molson Coors Brewing Co. of Golden, Colorado has made a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12 percent within the next two years, reduce energy use and convert some waste into ethanol.
“Waste is a resource out of place,” says Bill Coors on the company Web site. Much to my surprise, the company appears to be making efforts in a number of other areas as well.
- Workplace and supplier diversity, including support for minorities, women, military and veterans–even the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities
- Alcohol responsibility
- Responsibility in sales
- Responsibility in marketing (I like it!)
Is it all talk? I don’t know. After all, in 2005, Coors was cited by the EPA for violating the Toxic Substances Control Act.
But Coors is taking action, and I’ll drink to that.
Cheers.
