Over the last 20 years biking to work has developed from a healthy and environmentally friendly choice, to a fashion statement of sorts. Green has become so cool, people often forget that they need to calculate their total carbon footprint.
Izhar Gafni, an Israeli cycling enthusiast invented a double win: you can now ride your zero emission vehicle to work, and take comfort in the fact that your ride is 100% recyclable. Garni had the idea of creating a bike that was significantly more affordable than other options available, to make the ownership of a bicycle more accessible around the developing world.
He came up with a cardboard bicycle.
At $10 each, and finally available through the wonders of crowdfunding, you can now purchase a cardboard bike of your own. Gafni’s company, Cardboard Technologies, now has plans to manufacture cardboard wheelchairs, baby strollers, supermarket trolleys and more.
